Self-Care: It starts in your wardrobe

Our lives are filled with rituals. The comforting aroma of morning coffee, the quiet rhythm of a morning routine, the soothing steps of skincare, the way we prepare ourselves for the day ahead. These little moments offer us a sense of comfort and control. So why should getting dressed feel any different?

For some, choosing an outfit feels like just another task on an endless to-do list, a rushed decision made somewhere between breakfast and skincare, standing in front of the closet with no time to think.

But what if you saw it differently?

What if getting dressed wasn’t just about putting on clothes, but about a moment with yourself?

Why dressing should be a ritual, not a chore

The art of dressing is more than just selecting fabric; it's an act of intention and self-awareness. It starts with your  lingerie set, the first layer of you becoming your best version of the day. When you choose your outfit with mindfulness, you’re not just dressing your body; you're setting the tone for your day. A carefully chosen outfit can be a source of comfort, quiet confidence, or even rebellion. It can be the little spark that brightens your mood, the perfect armor for a challenging day, or the final push that boosts your confidence.

Rushing through this moment, grabbing whatever is clean and convenient, can leave you feeling a little off all day, like wearing someone else’s skin. But when you slow down and listen to yourself, something magical happens: the right outfit seems to appear, as if it was waiting for you all along.

Finding your own dressing ritual

Everyone’s approach to getting dressed is different, and the key is to create a ritual that feels natural and enjoyable for you. Shift your perspective, and you may find yourself looking forward to the process.

Mine is simple:

Coffee first. Let’s be honest, I’m not good for much before my first cup.A quick weather check. You don’t want to ruin those beautiful heels just because it’s about to pour. Music selection. Your choice of music can be a great hint at your mood for the day.

And then the moment of choice, facing my wardrobe and asking myself:

What do I want today?

What do I need today?

Two simple questions, but if you truly listen, the answer comes effortlessly.

Some days, the need is clear. I have an important meeting, so I naturally think of structured silhouettes and clean lines, something that makes me feel composed and in control. Identifying this already narrows my choices. From there, I refine, do I default to my usual black, or do I challenge myself with a bold color?

Other days, desire takes the lead. Maybe I’ve been thinking about that printed blouse I bought last month, waiting for the perfect occasion. Maybe I feel drawn to a particular texture or silhouette, something instinctive rather than logical.

It’s all about balance, between practicality and inspiration, between dressing for the world and dressing for yourself.

As the famous Yves Saint-Laurent was saying “ Dressing is a way of Life”.

Let your feelings guide you

That black dress you felt fantastic in last time? It may not feel the same today.

Loving an outfit last month doesn’t mean it will feel right today. Different day, different mood, different energy.

If an outfit doesn’t feel right, don’t force it. Explore other options. Because few things are worse than spending the whole day feeling like you’re wearing someone else’s clothes; like a version of yourself that doesn’t quite fit.

Your wardrobe is more than just a collection of clothes; it’s a relationship, a space where your past, present, and future selves coexist. It holds memories, dreams, and an infinity of possibilities. Getting dressed is not just about looking good—it’s about feeling aligned with yourself.

Treat it like a cherished moment for yourself rather than an obligation. Because that small shift? It changes everything.
